New simulation scenarios for obstetrics released
by SIRC Admin - Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 2:32 PM

Faculty report that clinical placements for nursing students to learn care for childbearing women are often difficult to secure. In response, the National League for Nursing released this week a new set of 12 obstetric scenarios developed under the direction of nationally known simulation educator Pamela Jeffries. These scenarios, as are all NLN simulation scenarios, are mapped to the NCLEX 2010 test plan and include Quality and Safety in Nursing (QSEN) competency based reflection questions. Chart materials accompany each scenario so that students may also practice documentation. The new NLN obstetrics simulations and the NLN pediatric scenarios (released in early 2012) provide nurse educators with alternatives to clinical learning venues.
