What are the barriers that keep students from optimal learning when exposed to a simulation senario?
Developing Simulated Learning Experiences
The suspension of disbelief. Once the students feel like the scenario is real they are more involved in the scenario.
during their first few sims they are very nervous and sometimes don't know exactly how to prepare (even though we verbally and in writing tell them). After they experience one or two, they have a better idea of how to prepare and how to capture the learning experience. Another barrier I see is having the sim during a particularly busy week for them. If possible time the sim on a week where they can devote their attention to this type of learning.
