Does anyone have a method to reproduce "fruity" breath for DKA? We are just beginning our journey into simulation and are trrying to adapt scenarios for a practical nurse program. Thanks in advance!   Diana

This was just a topic on the INA-Listserv, Vol 7, Issue 7 and here were the responses:
• I have used acetone spray on pillow
• Last year i also tried fruit flavor gum in mouth worked well
• We have used fruit flavored chapstick. It worked well.
• We have used fruit scented body spray on cotton balls and tucked them in various spots on our mannequin.
• We put a fruity smelling car air freshener (the type you hang from the mirror) in the pillow case under the simulator's head...
• A colleague used Juicy fruit gum

We put a fruity-scented car air freshner (the type that is hung from your mirror) in the pillowcase under the simulators head---this has worked well for us.
