A key aspect of the simulation learning experience is debriefing. This is an especially important part of the student learning experience.

In Debriefing and Guided Reflection, you will learn the concepts needed to provide effective, engaging debriefing sessions for your students through a variety of games and interactive exercises. There are several video examples of debriefing sessions, and a debriefing/guided reflection tool is included.

  1. Distinguish between debriefing, guided reflection, and reflective practice.
  2. Identify the goals of debriefing.
  3. Discuss the elements of debriefing that improve outcomes.
  4. Analyze the role of the faculty member during debriefing.
  5. Identify various approaches to debriefing.
  6. Discuss the process of debriefing.
  7. Formulate questions that assist students in self-reflection.
  8. Highlight the challenges in debriefing.
