Developing Simulated Learning Experiences
We do a wonderful end-of-life scenario with one of our faculty sitting at the bedside of one of the manikins. She sets up the scenario, telling them it is the middle of the night, the patient is awake listening to music and she notices that he is wide awake..(I have music playing over the speaker)
They have an end of life scenario that illustrates the need to listen to both the verbal and nonverbal cues. It is very powerful.
I would love a copy of that end of life scenario. We don't get any hospice type experiences so that would be a nice one.
Since my background is very rural/remote, we do an end of life scenario with a large Alaska Native family (played by students) having to make the decision to halt treatment and let nature take its course. Its been helpful for both the "family/students" and the nursing bedside staff to walk though the end of life dynamics.
I would appreciate looking at your material. I am in the process of creating an end of life scenerio for new grad. nurses and nurses new to our hospital on orientation.
I would love a copy also. THank kyou
You can also so my ideas on end of life care on my youtube channel "nursestoner". Finally you can follow the progress on Twitter silverhourino.
Will post again when I have completed the update on my website.
