Palliative Care

I am looking for a scenario that uses a standardized patient that is terminal and needs to be a recipient of hospice care.  My main objective is to improve the skills of the physician presenting the news to the patient.  Anyone have anything along this line?

Thanks,

Karen Werskey

Karen,

You may want to look at the ACES cases on the NLN website. There is one with a hospice patient that you may be able to adapt for use with physicians.

Hi Karen,

Based on your post, you may be interested in the Advancing Care Excellence workshop that heavily incorporates using simulation, monologues and geriatric syndromes. If you are interested feel free to contact me or to visit: http://www.nln.org/facultyprograms/workshopsandconf.htm

Have a great day :)
