NRP moulage

I am new to using moulage for NRP. Any suggestions for non-food substitute for meconium that would be safe for the manikins? Also any suggestions for vernix?

I"m also wondering how people make vernix for OB or NRP scenarios.

The only thing I've found so far in my search is a recipe from Laerdal:

100% silicone, baby powder and water

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping to find something inexpensive and realistic enough.

Any suggestions?

I wonder if some plain old Eucerin Cream would work for vernix?

I  have tried the cottage cheese recipe and was not happy with it. The Eucerin cream sounds as if it might be better. For meconium, I used refried beans, black food coloring, and KY jelly, which was wonderful! Unfortunately, it does contain food. What about Eucerin cream, black food coloring, and KY jelly?

For newborn: we use crisco and then add a little of the fake red blood and smear into creases

For mec: we did this once in the past: we actually used pea soup (strained out and then with some water added)

In the end, the students do not notice the small details

we use Vaseline lotion, it is white, thick enough to just pat on and looks pretty real, and very inexpensive. You can use any thick white lotion, and it works pretty well.

Hope this helps!

Has anyone ever used "Yuck" which is an instant slime that you can buy tints for?

I have used plain white toothpaste with a small amount of cornstarch so it doesnt run.
